Law enforcement have opened a criminal case over a serious accident involving buses and trucks on the M-12 "Vostok" federal highway in the Arzamas district in which people were injured, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod Oblast reports.
Recall that on the evening of December 2, 2025, near the village of Kostylikha a BMW driver collided with a GAZ vehicle. Both vehicles suffered mechanical damage.
Because of that crash traffic on the road section was hindered, and several vehicles were forced to stop. Some time later a 46-year-old driver of a YUTONG bus, having failed to maintain a safe speed, collided with three stationary vehicles: a DAF road train driven by a 40-year-old man, a Foton road train, and a second YUTONG bus whose driver was of the same age.
As a result of the incident, 14 people in the buses required medical assistance. Among the injured were one of the drivers and 13 passengers, including a 12-year-old child. All of them were taken to the Arzamas Central District Hospital.
The investigative department of the Arzamas Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is investigating the case under the article on violation of traffic rules that, through negligence, caused harm to health.
Earlier, Arzamas Mayor Alexander Shchelokov spoke about the condition of those injured in the accident.
