The former head of Shakhunya, Oleg Dakhno, was sentenced to forced labor.

      In Shakhunya, the court proceedings in the case of the former head of the local administration have concluded. Oleg Dakhno was found guilty of exceeding his official powers, the press service of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

      According to the investigation, in December 2024, while serving as head of the urban district, Dakhno signed resolutions that allowed several houses from a blocked housing development to be included in the specialized housing fund. One of these units was transferred under a tenancy agreement to orphans and children left without parental care.

      These decisions were made without the mandatory conclusion of an interdepartmental commission that is supposed to assess whether the houses are fit for habitation. Moreover, Dakhno violated the established procedure for formalizing such decisions.

      As a result of his actions, children were provided with housing that did not meet the required standards and had not been officially deemed habitable.

      Recall that in July 2024 Dakhno left the post of head of the district early. The criminal case was under the personal supervision of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin. After the investigation was completed, the materials were submitted to the court.

      At the conclusion of the case, the court sentenced Dakhno to two years of compulsory labor. In addition, he is barred from holding positions in state authorities and local government for one year.

      Earlier it was reported that the former head of the Sarov branch of the Federal Bailiff Service was given a 2.6-year suspended sentence for abuse of office.
