A teenager from the Pavlovsky district has become a subject of a criminal case after unwittingly becoming involved in illegal financial activity, the Nizhny Novgorod Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
A 16-year-old girl came across a part-time job offer in a messaging app. Interested, she began chatting with the alleged employer and agreed to carry out the tasks offered.
Following the instructions she received, the minor accepted money transfers into her bank account and then forwarded the funds to the account details provided to her. For carrying out these transactions she received a percentage of the amounts — thus, the girl effectively acted as an intermediary, a so-called "dropper", in a fraudulent scheme.
As a result of a check carried out by the investigative department of the Pavlovsky municipal division of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, a criminal case was opened under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Illegal turnover of payment funds."
Pending the investigation, the teenager has been subjected to a written undertaking not to leave and an obligation to behave properly.
Law enforcement agencies continue to carry out operational-search activities and investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident and identifying other participants in the criminal scheme.
Earlier it was reported that the first dropper case would be heard in a Nizhny Novgorod court.
