The director of a construction firm received a suspended sentence for the death of a worker in Semyonov.

      In Semyonov, a court found the general director of a construction company guilty of violating occupational safety rules that led to an employee's death, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

      According to the investigation, in September 2024 the director allowed one of the workers to unload and restack timber using a faulty vehicle equipped with a hydraulic manipulator. During the work the man fell out of the vehicle’s cabin and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. He was taken to hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.

      Investigators established that it was the company’s manager who violated labor law requirements by permitting the use of a technically defective vehicle. This was the cause of the tragedy.

      The court found the man guilty of breaching occupational safety requirements that resulted in death through negligence. He was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment suspended with a probationary period of the same length.

      Earlier it was reported that the former head of the Sarov branch of the Federal Bailiffs Service (FSSP) was found guilty of abuse of power for entering false data about subordinates’ work and illegally paying salaries.
