In Nizhny Novgorod, damage to the Chkalov Staircase has been recorded. According to the Telegram channel "Nizhny No. 1", one of the structural elements collapsed and fell onto a passing car.
As a result of the incident, the car's roof was dented and the windshield is covered with large cracks. Cracks and chips are also visible on the staircase itself.
Recall that the Chkalov Staircase was restored for the celebration of the city's 800th anniversary in the summer of 2021. However, after each winter new damage appears on the structure.
The Administrative Department of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region previously explained that the deterioration is seasonal and related to weather conditions.
The last time mass complaints from residents about the condition of the staircase were received was in spring 2025. It was repaired in April.
