On 18 November in Nizhny Novgorod the final of the sixth season of the "Big Change" (16+) competition among students of secondary vocational education institutions began. Six hundred young people from 63 regions of Russia will carry out the final’s contest tasks and will also take part in an educational program held at the Sovcombank Arena stadium.

The national competition "Big Change" is the flagship project of the Movement of the First. The competition is held with the support of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), the Ministry of Education of Russia and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.

"From this year the 'Big Change' competition has become part of the national project 'Youth and Children', which brings together the best that is being created in Russia for the younger generation. The competition for college and technical school students is an important area of comprehensive support measures for students training in vocational professions. Young people gain experience working in teams, in project activities, and receive support from professional mentors. We see that every year the project’s popularity among college students grows, as does the level of preparation with which participants join 'Big Change'," said Rosmolodezh head Grigory Gurov.

The themed launch of the final in the format of a live evening of introductions for all participants took place on 18 November. Next, college and technical school students will complete tasks, meet with teammates, and participate in an intensive educational program in which experts in education, enlightenment, science, media and the creative industries will hold themed events for the young people: interactive lectures, motivational meetings and visionary discussions, business games, master classes and team-building trainings.

"In Nizhny Novgorod not only the finalists of the Movement of the First’s flagship project 'Big Change' have gathered. These are future masters of production, specialists from many different industries. In the coming days the young people will complete contest tasks, meet representatives of various companies in the expo zone, and, most importantly, together with their teams they will be able to gain new skills and knowledge in the most in-demand professions of today," said Hero of Russia, participant of the presidential personnel program "Time of Heroes", and chairman of the board of the Movement of the First, Artur Orlov.

The unifying theme of all contest stages of the sixth season is "From Dreams to Achievements." This year participants in the competition have the opportunity to speak about their most cherished dream, take the first step toward its realization together with their team, and reflect on how to help people around the world fulfill their dreams. In the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, declared by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, and in the year marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, some new tasks are dedicated to the theme "Memory of Generations."

"It is a great honor for us to once again host the 'Big Change' final — the flagship project of the Movement of the First. Six hundred of the most talented and determined students from colleges and technical schools from across the country have gathered in Nizhny Novgorod. It is very symbolic that the main theme of this season is 'From Dreams to Achievements.' We always wish our youth not only to achieve their goals but also to be able to turn their dreams into reality. For this reason participants will solve serious cases, attend educational and useful programs, and learn from their elders. We believe the final will be strong not only in terms of results but emotionally as well, so that every young person feels part of something big, finds like-minded people and makes a statement at a high level," emphasized the Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Svetlana Anufrieva.

The largest numbers of finalists in the sixth season among students of secondary vocational education institutions come from regions such as Krasnodar Krai, Kursk Region, Saint Petersburg, Rostov, Tomsk and Voronezh regions, Moscow, Kemerovo Region — Kuzbass, Irkutsk Region, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Bashkortostan and Sverdlovsk Region.

Among the most popular contest tracks chosen by finalists are: "Create!", "Tell About What Matters!", "Do Good!", "Explore Russia!", "Remember!", "Create the Future!", "Be Entrepreneurial!", "Be Healthy!", "Discover New!" and "Serve the Fatherland!".

The closing ceremony of the "Big Change" final will take place on 21 November. The ceremony will be streamed in the official "Big Change" community on VKontakte.

Winners and prize-winners of "Big Change" among college and technical school students will receive up to 1 million rubles for education and implementation of their own projects. Teacher-mentors will receive up to 150 thousand rubles and the opportunity to attend educational programs at leading centers in Russia. Separately, 20 secondary vocational education institutions will be announced that, based on the results of the team track of "Big Change" among educational organizations and participants’ results at the final in Nizhny Novgorod, will each receive 2 million rubles to implement projects to develop educational infrastructure.
