The maximum amount of maternity and childbirth benefits in Russia will exceed 955 thousand rubles by 2026. This is more than 2.5 times higher than the 2023 figure. This was reported to TASS by the head of the Social Fund, Sergey Chirkov.
According to him, payments are increasing annually: in 2023 the maximum benefit was 383,178 rubles, in 2024 — 565,562 rubles, and in 2025 — 794,355 rubles. In 2026 the amount will rise to 955,836 rubles.
Chirkov noted that such a noticeable increase became possible thanks to reforms in the social insurance system. In particular, this concerns the merging of funds, the introduction of a single insurance rate, and the establishment since 2023 of a common base for calculating insurance contributions.
He emphasized the importance of official employment for receiving the full amount of the benefit. Chirkov added that a woman needs only two calendar years of official employment preceding the year of going on maternity leave for the payment to be calculated based on her full average earnings.
Earlier it was reported that more than 5,000 families in Nizhny Novgorod have already applied for regional maternity capital.
