A repeat offender was caught again for illegally cutting down pine trees in the Vadsky District.

In the Vadsky District, police detained a 55-year-old man suspected of illegal logging near the village of Chegodaevka. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
According to law enforcement, he cut down three pine trees, causing damage to the forest fund totaling more than 116,000 rubles. It turned out the detainee had already been prosecuted criminally four times, twice for similar crimes.
During questioning, the man admitted that he had come to the forest by tractor and cut down the trees allegedly for personal use.
A criminal case has been opened against him for illegal felling of trees. He is currently under a travel restriction order, and the police are checking whether he is involved in other similar incidents.
By law, such a crime can carry up to four years in prison and a fine of up to 300,000 rubles.
Earlier it was reported that a man from Kstovo who cut down trees for a bicycle track caused damage to the forest fund exceeding 2.5 million rubles.
