The first group of the mobilization reserve "BARS NN" has begun a military training course at one of the training grounds in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Military Commissariat, after completing the training the reservists will serve to guard strategically important energy and infrastructure facilities in the region.
Valery Voronenko, head of the department for planning, assignment, training and registration of mobilization resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Military Commissariat, noted that the training is being conducted according to a general military training program with an emphasis on practical skills.
"Special attention is paid to rehearsing actions to destroy aerial targets of various sizes that could pose a threat to the facilities under protection. The duration of the course depends on the reservist's level of preparation and ranges from 10 to 14 days. The theoretical part is minimized, with the main focus on practice. Training sessions are held both day and night," Voronenko said.
The program includes firearms, tactical, engineering and medical training, basics of electronic warfare, communications and command and control. Training is conducted by experienced instructors with combat experience, based at a military unit.
A counter-UAV instructor with the call sign "Ozilot" emphasized that the exercises are as close to real conditions as possible. He added: "We emphasize individual training — we assess each person's abilities. If necessary, we adapt the program for those who have no combat experience. We practice shooting from various positions, changing firing positions, and later will move on to actions as part of small tactical groups. The main qualities in service are cohesion and the ability to work as a team."
Participants in the drills include both newcomers and people with military experience — former servicemen, security personnel, and combatants. All of them are striving to improve their skills and be as useful as possible when carrying out tasks.
Reservist Eduard, who previously served in the Interior Ministry, demonstrated leadership qualities and headed one of the mobile fire teams. "We study everything that may be useful in protecting facilities. Despite my experience, I learn a lot of new things. The training becomes more professional every year. I understand the tasks, I feel the responsibility — I am ready for service," he said.
Program participants are accommodated in a modern tent camp. The camp is equipped with heated showers, sanitary facilities, a laundry, a medical station and rest rooms. Full meals are provided to the reservists in the mess hall.
In the near future the reservists will complete the introductory stage and move on to more intensive practical sessions, including night training.
It should be recalled that participation in the "BARS NN" reserve does not involve deployments to the zone of the special military operation — training and duties take place exclusively within the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Enrollment in the reserve is voluntary — through municipal military commissariats. The contract with the Ministry of Defense is signed on behalf of the commander of the military unit. The uniqueness of the program is that reservists can combine military service with their primary civilian job.
Participants are guaranteed monetary pay, modern uniforms and equipment. During the training they retain their workplace and salary. Insurance, medical care and free meals are also provided.
