Nizhny Novgorod native Svetlana Ermolova has been appointed head of the Kursk Region's Ministry of Health.

      October 24, 2025 22:44 Politics Nizhny Novgorod native Svetlana Ermolova has been appointed head of the Ministry of Health of the Kursk Region. The appointment of the acting minister was announced by Governor Alexander Khinshtein on his Telegram channel on October 24.

      The head of the Kursk Region noted that Ermolova has been working in healthcare for more than 20 years. She worked her way up from physician to head of a medical institution. For many years she led the Center for Disaster Medicine. She then headed the Territorial Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund, and since February 2025 she has served as acting chief physician of City Clinical Hospital No. 7 of Nizhny Novgorod.

      "She knows all the processes from the inside," Khinshtein emphasized.

      According to him, Ermolova will have to put regional healthcare in order. "There are many problems and questions," he admitted.

      Recall that former State Duma deputy from the Nizhny Novgorod Region Alexander Khinshtein became acting governor in December 2024. In the autumn of 2025 he won the election and became the full-fledged head of the region.

      In September 2025 it emerged that Nizhny Novgorod resident Andrey Chertkov had become chairman of the government of the Donetsk People’s Republic. After his appointment the official gave a lengthy interview to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."
