Customs officers from the Volga region delivered 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid to residents of the DPR.
Privolzhye customs officers handed over 40 tons of humanitarian cargo for residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic through the People’s Front. This is reported by the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the People’s Front.
Warm items, including children’s snowsuits and down jackets, women’s jackets and other seasonal clothing, were sent to the aid center of the Russian Orthodox Church at the Church of Saint Princess Olga in Donetsk. From there the items will be distributed directly to those in need. In total, more than 63,000 items of clothing were delivered as humanitarian aid to the republic’s population.
These goods were seized by mobile teams of the Privolzhsk Customs Directorate for violations of customs legislation. In accordance with a court decision, the specified property was transferred to federal ownership. After all necessary legal procedures and an assessment of the condition of the goods were completed, a decision was made to use them as humanitarian assistance.
“The mobile teams of the Privolzhsk Customs Directorate seized 40 tons of women’s and children’s clothing illegally brought into the territory of the Russian Federation. The specified property was handed over to the population of the Donetsk People’s Republic through the People’s Front as part of humanitarian assistance. We are convinced that this initiative will help improve the socio-domestic conditions of the region’s residents. This is not our first such transfer. We will continue to provide assistance to those who need it,” said Mikhail Zhiryayev, deputy head of the Privolzhsk Customs Directorate.
The Nizhny Novgorod branch of the People’s Front emphasized the coordinated and effective work of all participants in the humanitarian campaign.
“Helping the residents of the DPR was made possible thanks to the work of several organizations in the Nizhny Novgorod region at once: the Privolzhsk Customs Directorate and the Privolzhsk Operational Customs, the Territorial Administration of Rosimushchestvo for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the ANO ‘Moshch Donbassa’ and the People’s Front. The most important thing is that these seasonal items will be sent in time — before the onset of cold weather — and we will be able to provide timely assistance to the residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic,” noted Darya Kovanova, representative of the People’s Front in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
