The murderer of two women will stand trial in Sarov.

      The investigation into a high-profile criminal case in Sarov has been completed. A 26-year-old local resident is accused of murdering two women with particular cruelty and of arson, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

      Recall that on April 7, in an apartment on Kuibyshev Street, after an argument with one of the women the man led her into the stairwell and strangled her there. He then returned to the apartment and attacked the mother of the first victim with a knife.

      To conceal the crime, the accused attempted to destroy the traces with fire. He locked the victims’ bodies in the apartment, set a fire and fled the scene.

      The suspect was detained shortly thereafter. A court ordered that he be held in custody.

      At present the investigation has gathered sufficient evidence. The criminal case has been sent to court for trial.

      Earlier it was reported that a Nizhny Novgorod resident was sentenced to 14 years in a maximum-security penal colony for killing an acquaintance with knives and forks.
