Private clinics in Nizhny Novgorod threatened to raise prices because of a new tax.

Private medical centers in Nizhny Novgorod have expressed concern about an initiative by State Duma deputies who propose imposing a 5% profit tax on private clinics. They currently benefit from a zero rate.
According to the parliamentarians' calculations, introducing the tax would allow regional budgets to receive an additional 20 to 30 billion rubles. They acknowledge, however, that the measure could negatively affect the operations of private medical institutions and reduce their financial stability.
Alexey Nikonov, author of the Telegram channel "Bokal presseka," reported that he spoke with the owners of several private clinics in Nizhny Novgorod. Many of them noted that they already operate with minimal profits due to high costs for consumables and staff wages.
According to Nikonov's interlocutors, if the new tax is introduced, part of the additional expenses will inevitably be passed on to patients.
A medical expert clarified that preventive medicine, dentistry and ophthalmology would be particularly vulnerable, with the cost of services likely to rise the most.
It was reported that a private clinic in Nizhny Novgorod raised prices without warning patients.
Recall that in spring 2025 the Nizhny Novgorod regional Ministry of Health and private clinics signed a historic agreement.
