Alexander Fyodorov's Golden Finish

      Last weekend, following the results of the Mayor’s Cup motocross competition, held for the third time on the “Salut” track, to the delight of Dzerzhinsk fans their idol, multiple prize-winner of the Winline Russian Supercross Championship and Master of Sport Alexander Fyodorov left no chance to his rivals and finished first.

      The complete concentration of our rider, competing in the 250 cc class among men, allowed him to take the lead from the start and hold that position until the finish line.

      The coach of the motocross division of SShOR “Salut” scored the maximum possible number of points (90) and became the winner. Close behind him finished Grigory Valyakin from the Moscow Region and Vladimir rider Gleb Seliverstov, who became the prize-winners.

      Champions come from Ruchey

      On October 11 and 12, about 70 athletes took part in races across seven classes (50, 65, 85, 125, 250 cc, amateurs and veterans) representing Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir, Moscow, Ivanovo, Kostroma regions, Mordovia, Tatarstan and Moscow. In addition to 13 pupils of SShOR “Salut”, the honor of our city at the competition was defended by representatives of the teams “Enduro Prokat 152”, SOSH “DOSAAF” and independent athletes.

      The youngest rider was 6-year-old Kirill Gordeev from the village of Ruchey in the Kovrovsky District of Vladimir Region. In the final protocol of the competition among boys and girls under 8 years old in the 50 cc class he is listed in last, seventh place. But as his father — Alexey Gordeev — noted, his son was not at all upset by the result, because the main thing for him was the competitive process itself, riding on a wonderfully prepared track.

      By the way, the victory in this class was claimed by a regular participant of recent starts in Dzerzhinsk — 8-year-old Arina Pavlova, who also lives in the village of Ruchey.

      The oldest participant — 61-year-old Sergei Frolov from the Sarov motorcycle club — took third place among motocross veterans (45 years and older).

      Prizes are not far off

      The third open Mayor’s Cup of Dzerzhinsk attracted many well-known and experienced athletes, representatives of the country’s famous motorcycle sport schools.

      The most numerous was the 65 cc class, which brought together 14 athletes, among them three riders from Dzerzhinsk.

      By the sum of two races, first place went to 13-year-old Sergei Kraev from Kostroma Region, second to Igor Pluzhnikov from Vladimir, and bronze to Pavlovo resident Artem Mezin. SShOR “Salut” rider Daniil Belyaev fell short of the bronze medal by only 4 points, and Stepan Shakhunts finished 5th, 10 points behind the top three.

      Eleven participants started in the 85 cc class. The strongest was 12-year-old Nikita Vaskov from Naberezhnye Chelny. The best among Dzerzhinsk athletes were SShOR “Salut” pupils Fedor Shkilev, Semyon Zaitsev and Timerkhan Safin (4th, 5th and 6th places).

      “The race turned out beautiful and interesting,” emphasized Semyon Zaitsev. “It was very pleasant to compete on a wonderfully prepared track. I’ve been doing motocross for almost two years and I can see that with each start the track gets only better. We were a little short of a prize place, so we will work and improve.”

      In the 125 cc class, the best result among men was shown by Candidate for Master of Sport Alexander Belyaev (Bor); second was Matvei Lukoyanov from Vyazniki, and the bronze was won by Dzerzhinsk rider Sergei Prokurov. Among juniors in this class the victory was claimed by Timofey Biryukov from Kovrov, who beat Bor resident Maxim Kiselev (second place) and Nikita Terekhin from Ivanovo Region.

      In the final protocol’s fourth line is SShOR “Salut” pupil Ivan Shilov, who trailed the bronze medalist by 6 points.

      From amateurs to veterans

      On Sunday, October 12, amateurs and veterans of motocross competed for the awards of the III Mayor’s Cup of Dzerzhinsk. In the amateur class “A” Dmitry Kozlov from Pavlovo took first place, and Andrey Volkov from Sarov won in class “B”. From Dzerzhinsk riders, note the performance of Dmitry Timakov, who finished 5th.

      Among veterans the podium looked like this: Master of Sport Ivan Terekhin (Furmanov), Eduard Bryukvin (Reshetikha) and Sergei Frolov (Sarov).

      Having seen a lot in their sporting careers, the veterans of motorcycle sport said in one voice: “This two-day motorsport festival once again confirmed that Dzerzhinsk is a landmark point on Russia’s sporting map, and the track of the ‘Salut’ sports school deserves to be considered one of the best in Russia!”

      “Speed, driving skill, motorcycles flying through the air — we saw it all at the competition. It was pleasant to hear the assessment from guests from Vladimir: ‘We could not miss these races. You have a wonderful track and a high level of organization, so we are sure we did not come here for the last time.’ Motocross is developing actively in Dzerzhinsk, and the popularity of this sport grows every year. Our track is one of the best not only in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, but in Russia! We hold competitions of the highest level.”

      Coach of the motocross division of SShOR “Salut” Alexander Fyodorov:

      “In principle, the victory came fairly easily. The race went in standard mode. One could say it had a training character. The main thing is that everything ended without any injuries. How did the current season turn out? By results it was less successful than the previous one. This is explained by the injury I received before the start of the season. But overall it went fine. Now we will prepare for the 2026 starts.”
