How Nizhny Novgorod residents work and relax in November 2025
October 13, 2025 13:16 Economy
At the beginning of November, Nizhny Novgorod residents can expect pleasant changes. Due to the celebration of National Unity Day, which is traditionally observed on November 4, there will be three consecutive days off. Details — in a report by NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."
How we will be taking time off
In 2025, November 4 falls on a Tuesday and will be an official non-working day. However, before that people will have to work a six-day week, though Saturday, November 1 will be made a shortened workday. As a result, there will be a three-day break from Sunday, November 2 through Tuesday, November 4 inclusive.
Thus, November will have 30 calendar days, of which 11 are days off and 19 are working days.
How much we will work
For those who work a standard five-day week, the norm of working time in November will be:
- for a 40-hour week — 151 hours;
- for a 36-hour week — 135.8 hours;
- for a 24-hour week — 90.2 hours.
Is it worth taking vacation in November
If you are planning vacation and counting on good vacation pay — November may disappoint you a little. Public holidays are not included in the calculation of payments, and there are fewer working days than usual.
As a result, vacation pay may turn out to be lower than the salary for a full month. So it's better to take vacation in December, when there are more working days.
Work on holidays: how it's paid
For some professions and sectors where an uninterrupted work process is necessary, shifts may be scheduled on that day as well. In such cases the Labor Code of the Russian Federation guarantees increased pay: work on a holiday must be paid at least double the usual rate. An alternative option is to provide an additional day off at the employee's request. It is important to remember that requiring an employee to work on a holiday requires the employee's written consent, except in emergency situations provided for by law.
Recall that the government of the Russian Federation has already approved the work calendar for 2026. It is expected to include 247 working days and 118 days off. The New Year holidays will last 12 days.
