The Shukhov Tower was opened in Vyksa after being moved from an industrial area to "Shukhov Park." This was reported by a correspondent of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" who was present at the event.

According to the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, the tower relocation project is unique in recent history. No one has done anything like this before.

The head of the region noted that, in addition to technical issues, other difficulties arose. In particular, because the tower is a cultural heritage site of federal significance, the relocation project had to be coordinated with state agencies.

The tower is 38.8 meters tall; it was built in 1933–1934.

As the curator of "Shukhov Park," Yelizaveta Likhachyova, noted, after the relocation the tower retained 95% of its original structures, and not a single new hole was drilled.

OMK CEO Anatoly Sedykh admitted that the idea of moving it first appeared about 20 years ago.

"The project itself took seven years (of which the actual move was about a year). Many problems and tasks were solved. Many experts were not sure of success, but we took on this responsibility," he said.

Recall that four of the nine towers designed by Shukhov have been preserved in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
