Large-scale construction of new drainage systems in the Olgino and Novinki districts will begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, Mayor Yuri Shalabaev said on his Telegram channel.
The project provides for laying 16 kilometers of pipelines and installing two pumping stations. These measures are aimed at improving engineering infrastructure and preparing for the active development of the city's southern territories.
The mayor stressed that work is simultaneously being completed to create water supply networks in the same districts. According to the Nizhny Novgorod Water Utility, the readiness of the facilities is 99%.
The length of the new trunk water pipeline reaches nine kilometers. Hydraulic tests have been completed; next are flushing and disinfection of the system. Commissioning is scheduled for December.
According to the mayor, the implementation of these projects will reduce the load on the existing infrastructure and ensure a stable water supply to new residential quarters. In particular, this concerns developing microdistricts in the Bogorodsk, Kstovo and Arzamas directions.
Earlier it was reported that tram tracks will connect Shcherbinki and Novinki in Nizhny Novgorod. In addition, multi-storey buildings are planned for Novinki.
