An injury to a schoolgirl in the settlement of Mukhtolovo resulted in a criminal case.

      Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin demanded a report on the criminal case concerning the injury of a pupil at one of the schools in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. This was reported by the press service of the law enforcement agency.

      The incident occurred in the autumn of 2023 at the school in the settlement of Mukhtolovo (Ardatovsky District). An eight-year-old girl struck her head on a metal hook of a coat rack and sustained an eye injury.

      The child was promptly given medical assistance; however, according to available information, her vision deteriorated.

      The parents believe that the school administration did not ensure the safety of the children. According to them, the sharp metal hooks were not fitted with protective caps, and the light in the changing room was off at the time of the incident.

      The family repeatedly appealed to the competent authorities but was unable to achieve results.

      In January of this year Alexander Bastrykin ordered an inspection to be carried out and to be reported on its results. The case was under the supervision of the central office of the Investigative Committee, but no one was held accountable.

      Later the victim’s mother contacted the reception office of the head of the Investigative Committee via social networks, expressing disagreement with the way the circumstances of the incident were being established.

      A criminal case was opened. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the head of the regional investigative department, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to submit a report on the preliminary and final results of the investigation. The execution of the instruction is under the control of the central office of the agency.

      Earlier it was reported that Bastrykin had turned his attention to the case concerning the death of a man in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
