State Duma deputy and former head of Nizhny Novgorod Vadim Bulavinov is confident that Yuri Shalabaev will retain the mayor’s post following the vote at the first meeting of the city Duma of the new convocation. He said this at a press conference attended by a correspondent of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod".

The meeting at which the city head will be chosen is taking place today, 29 September. Two candidates are vying for the post — incumbent mayor Yuri Shalabaev, who has headed the administration since 2020, and representative of the Public Chamber of Nizhny Novgorod Sergei Goryachev.

Bulavinov noted that he has no doubt about the outcome of the vote. "In two hours they will elect him head of the city again today, I hope. Not hope, but I know," the deputy emphasized.

Earlier Bulavinov spoke about the fate of the Vodnik stadium, which was closed to visitors after being declared unsafe.
