Bastrykin has taken an interest in contaminated drinking water at a residential complex in Nizhny Novgorod.

      A criminal case has been opened in Nizhny Novgorod over inadequate water supply in the Lesnoy residential complex, the information center of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported.

      It is noted that since July the water coming from taps in the new building does not meet sanitary standards: it has foreign unpleasant odors, an unnatural color and impurities. It is unfit for drinking and dangerous for household use. Residents report a deterioration in their health. Despite numerous appeals to various authorities, the situation has not changed.

      In this connection the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has launched a criminal case. The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed the head of the regional directorate, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to report on the progress and results of the investigation.

      Control over the execution of the instruction is being exercised by the central office of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

      Earlier it was reported that the head of the Investigative Committee requested a report on the investigation of a criminal case related to the violation of the rights of residents of dilapidated houses and dormitories in the area of Beketov, Shorin and Pushkin streets.
