Five general education schools and three kindergartens in the Nizhny Novgorod region have been completely closed for quarantine due to a rise in respiratory infections, the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor reported.

In addition, classes have been partially suspended in 99 classrooms across 35 schools, as well as in 45 groups in 33 preschool institutions. Such measures are aimed at preventing the further spread of viral infections among children and staff.

Specialists from the agency also reminded residents of the region about the importance of vaccination against influenza. According to experts, the most favorable time for vaccination is from September to November. During this period immunity is formed before the onset of the seasonal disease peak.

Earlier, Nizhny Novgorod residents were reminded when they can request a doctor to make a home visit.

It was also reported that an autumn vaccination campaign against rubella will start in the Nizhny Novgorod region on October 1.
