The heating season started in Nizhny Novgorod on September 23.

      September 23, 2025, 10:36 — Society. The authorities of Nizhny Novgorod have decided to start the heating season on September 23. Today a phased start-up of heat began in the city, despite the fact that weather conditions do not yet meet the established standards — the average daily air temperature has not fallen below +8 degrees for five days.

      Meanwhile, meteorologists report that by the end of the current week the region may see precipitation in the form of wet snow. The unfavorable forecast also became one of the reasons for the early start of the heating season.

      The mayor’s office clarified that heat will not reach Nizhny Novgorod residents’ homes immediately. Full system adjustment will take from three to seven days. Heating will first be provided to kindergartens, schools and medical institutions. Next, heat will begin to be supplied to apartment buildings. Industrial facilities remain last in line for connection.

      According to sanitary standards, the air temperature in residential premises must not be below +18 degrees. In corner rooms the minimum allowable value is +20. At the same time, allowable excess is no more than four degrees, and nighttime lowering no more than three.

      Also note that from September 23 a hotline began operating in Nizhny Novgorod where residents can address questions related to heat supply.
