Afisha: On September 21 in Nizhny Novgorod the All‑Russian Youth Music Festival "Melodies of the Victorious Spring. Dedicated to the Labor Feat of Peers" (12+) will begin. The project is timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and highlights one of the little‑known and tragic chapters of the history of the Great Patriotic War — the labor heroism of children and adolescents on the home front.

The festival is held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. Its participants will include winners from across the country of the eponymous All‑Russian music competition among vocalists, choral groups, brass bands and ensembles of cadet schools, cadet and naval classes, and the cultural‑historical contest "I Am Proud," dedicated to the unparalleled feat of fellow countrymen — home‑front workers from the "Cities of Labor Glory" — Nizhny Novgorod, Kostroma, Cherepovets.

The program of the festival’s first day will begin in the Kremlin with a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the Eternal Flame and the monument "To Gorky Residents — Home Front Workers."

The climax of the celebration is the opening at the "Komediya" Theatre of a traveling art exhibition "Labor Feat. How It Was" (12+), the awarding of the winners of the "I Am Proud" contest, as well as the premiere of a musical performance created by the young artists of the Moscow Children's Musical Theatre of the Young Actor (DMTYuA) and the cadet winners of the All‑Russian music competition. The play tells of the selfless feat of children and adolescents who worked for themselves and for fathers and brothers who had gone to the front at the factories of Gorky, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, and Cherepovets.

"The aim of our project is not simply to tell, but to pass through the hearts of young people the story of their peers whose childhood and youth were scorched by war. Through music, dance and words we are trying to build a bridge between generations, to pay tribute to those who forged Victory with their labor," said project leader Tatyana Sadofyeva.
