More than 15,000 Nizhny Novgorod residents have visited the regional Longevity Center over its three years of operation.

      Age restriction: 0+. On September 10 the "Longevity in Nizhny Novgorod" center in Switzerland Park celebrated its third anniversary since opening. Over the past years more than 15,000 residents of the region of "silver" age have attended events at this venue. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Social Policy.

      Today the center held a celebration that gathered about 100 people. The ceremonial part of the event was opened by Vadim Tsyganov, Deputy Minister of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. He noted the important role of the institution in working with the older generation.

      "Social work with older citizens is carried out across the region and is concentrated on the basis of social service centers in municipal districts. At the same time, a methodological platform for interesting, creative and innovative activities is often needed. It was precisely for this purpose that the leisure center in Switzerland Park was opened. Every week we prepare a varied program for guests; the organizers of such events are employees of the regional social service centers. Visitors have access to recreational, cultural, creative, musical and theatrical activities, wellness classes in the hall and in the open air. Over three years, about 2,300 events have been held at the Longevity Center. Classes are free, and residents from across the region can attend them freely," the deputy minister said.

      A festive program was prepared for the guests, which began with creative workshops. Visitors could practice hairstyling and makeup, take part in dance cardio training with elements of breathing practices, attend a yogatherapy training, and view an exhibition of handmade dolls. The celebration continued with a concert program featuring creative performances by musical and dance groups from the region.

      "I started attending the center a year ago. I am a resident of the Prioksky district of Nizhny Novgorod, I am 86 years old, but I am very active and love socializing. I most enjoy attending the center's club for heartfelt communication and various musical classes and performances. I myself love to sing and dance. I have met many interesting people here," shared Nizhny Novgorod resident Tamara Galibina.

      Recall that the main goal of the "Longevity in Nizhny Novgorod" center is to help older people strengthen social ties, develop new skills, take part in various practices of an active and healthy lifestyle, find a new hobby and friends, and discover their creative potential.

      The schedule of the "Longevity in Nizhny Novgorod" center is updated weekly. It is published on the regional Ministry of Social Policy's website (https://minsocium.ru/index.php/active-longevity), and also in a group on the social network VKontakte (https://vk.com/longevity_nn). The schedule includes both traditional, regular events and new offerings. Classes are held free of charge.

      Work with the older generation is included in the national project "Family," which is being implemented in the country from 2025 by the order of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The new national project succeeds the previously implemented national projects "Demography" and "Culture." The national project "Family" includes seven federal projects: "Support for Families," "Family Values," "Culture for the Family," "Pushkin Card," "Older Generation," "Protection of Motherhood and Childhood," and "Large Families."
