In the Lukoyanovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod region, local residents spotted a she-bear with two cubs near the settlement named after Stepan Razin. The appearance of the wild animals was immediately reported to the Arzamas interdistrict hunting department of the Ministry of Forestry. A state hunting inspector was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the inspector saw that the she-bear with her cubs was already moving away from the settlement and returning to the forest. No threat to people arose.
As specialists explained, wild animals may approach humans for various reasons. The most common of them are the presence of easily accessible food sources, such as garbage dumps, and curiosity, especially among young animals exploring new territories. Despite this, wild animals still perceive humans as a danger and try to avoid encounters with people.
The Ministry of Forestry reminded: when encountering wild animals you must not try to approach, feed, or chase them. Such incidents should be reported immediately to the hunting supervision.
Earlier it was reported that a mountain hare set up a checkpoint in the Kerzhensky Nature Reserve.
