Kozma Minin Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University has opened a school for foreign teachers of Russian called "Uchu velikomu." Training began on August 25 in Moscow with the support of the federal Ministry of Education, the university’s press service reports. The program is organized by Minin University and the "My History" foundation.
For a week, teachers from Nizhny Novgorod will be sharing their teaching experience with colleagues from India. For many of them this will be their first visit to our country.
"We are glad to share the university’s successful experience and our own developments in teaching Russian as a foreign language with those who truly wish to improve their professional competencies. Our common task is to make Russian education even more in demand on the international market. Together we strive to instill a love of the Russian language in foreign teachers, schoolchildren, and students," said NGPU Rector Viktor Sdobnyakov.
From the first day of training foreign teachers are attending practical classes. They are learning how the language reflects Russia’s mentality and history, and what changes it has undergone recently. The program also includes lectures, practical workshops, and educational events.
It should be noted that the "Uchu velikomu" school is being implemented under a project of the federal Ministry of Education to develop a network of Centers for Open Education in Russian and for teaching Russian abroad. The project covers more than 60 countries worldwide.
