The phased filling of heat networks with water as part of preparations for the upcoming heating season began in Nizhny Novgorod at the end of last week. This was reported by "Teploenergo."
Work began with the main pipelines, after which the heat carrier will flow into the distribution networks and then to the branches leading to consumers.
At the same time, heating systems inside the buildings will remain switched off for now. The main goal of the current stage is to create the technical readiness of the infrastructure for the start of heating.
In early September, test firings of the facilities are planned. First, heat will be supplied from the boiler houses that provide the greatest number of social institutions — kindergartens, schools and hospitals. After that, according to the schedule, trial start-ups of the remaining heat sources will begin.
Upon completion of the tests, the system will remain filled with water and will be kept under excess pressure. This is necessary to ensure a smooth and prompt transition to full heating when the season begins.
According to the energy supervision department of JSC "Teploenergo," by mid‑August more than 70% of residential buildings in the company's service area are already ready for the heating period. In addition, the readiness of about 90% of internal heating systems in schools and kindergartens has been confirmed — these are exactly where heat will be supplied first.
It was previously reported that the scheduled repair of turbo unit No. 5 was completed at the Dzerzhinsk CHP.
