      On the day of the celebration of Nizhny Novgorod’s 804th anniversary the walls and towers of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin will be decorated with video installations styled in a fairy-tale/bylina manner. This was reported by the Office of the Affairs of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Thus, a projection dedicated to the history of famous Russian bogatyrs will be shown on the Zachatyevskaya Tower. It is dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, which is being observed in Russia in 2025 by decree of President Vladimir Putin.

      The wall on the stretch between the Borisoglebskaya and Georgievskaya towers will be adorned with a City Day greeting in the same stylistic vein.

      A golden sun will “light up” on the Zachatyevskaya Tower: gleaming rings will coil around it in patterns, then the sun will give way to a moon surrounded by storm clouds and flashes of lightning. After such an expressive introduction a portrait of the founder of Nizhny Novgorod — Grand Prince Yuri Vsevolodovich — will appear on the tower; around his image they will “complete” a kashe (a special-effects shutter) in the form of a wooden kremlin.

      The next figure the mapping creators turn to is the great commander Alexander Nevsky, who, mounted on a horse, rides to defend the Motherland to achieve one of the decisive victories in Russian history — on Lake Peipus.

      Kozma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky — heroes of the Nizhny Novgorod land who gathered the people’s militia in 1612 — will appear in the next scene. Then the heroes’ stories will give way to a solemn congratulation to the townspeople, spectacularly rendered on the Zachatyevskaya Tower in scarlet and gold tones.

      The presentation will be accompanied by a voice-over; the text was created in the style of an ancient bylina, which makes the plots of distant history even more vivid and close.

      At the same time a holiday greeting will be shown on the Kremlin wall between the Borisoglebskaya and Georgievskaya towers, supplemented by portraits of the same Nizhny Novgorod heroes and the dates of the city’s founding and the current year of the 804th anniversary celebration. These will also be presented in the fairy-tale/bylina style.

      The festive mapping can be seen from 20:00 on August 16 until 02:00 on August 17.
