What will the traffic light tell?

On August 5th, the International Day of the Traffic Light is celebrated annually in many countries—a holiday dedicated to one of the most recognizable symbols of road safety. For the pupils of the preparatory group of Kindergarten No. 11 "Berezka," an educational and game program on traffic rules titled "What Will the Traffic Light Tell?" was held. The children learned about the history of this useful device, how the traffic light has changed over time, and its role in ensuring safety on the roads. During the event, the librarian shared interesting facts about the first traffic light, which appeared in London in 1868 and operated on gas lighting. The children happily discovered that initially, traffic lights had only two colors—red and green—and yellow was added later. Special attention was given to road rules and the significance of traffic signals. In an engaging manner, the librarian explained that a red light means "stop," yellow means "get ready," and green means "go." Afterwards, games such as "Zebra," "Musical Sign," and "Dangerous Road," involving traffic signs, took place. The kids found it fun and interesting, actively answering quiz questions and solving riddles. At the end of the event, children received coloring pages with traffic illustrations. E. A. Gerasimova, head of the City Children's Library No. 4
