The "Specific" theater festival, where performances will take place in unexpected urban spaces, will be held in Nizhny Novgorod in August, as announced by the Center for Theater Arts (CTA).

The festival program "Specific" spans two weekends – from August 1 to 3 and from August 8 to 10. The organizers have already presented the schedule for the first part. From August 1 to 3, audiences will see performances of the "Text in the City" segment, where contemporary directors reimagine Russian classics: "Meshchane" based on M. Gorky's play, "Yama" based on A. Kuprin's story, and "Bespredannitsa" based on A. Ostrovsky's play.

"The main feature of the festival is its locations: unexpected, intense, filled with history and memory. This year, we are back on the water — the performance will take place on a barge moored in the city center. Additionally, audiences will see a production in the legendary closed shopping center 'Etazhi' — a place associated with many memories for Nizhny Novgorod residents, from early shops to computer (and other) clubs. When emotional attachment to the space combines with the powerful text of the author and the director's concept, a great artistic work emerges where the city itself becomes the main character," noted Evgeny Pyhtin, the festival's general producer, co-founder and artistic director of CTA.

The program for the second weekend (August 8–10) will be announced next week on the festival's website and social media.
