"There is no second scenario": The rumor about "Torpedo" moving to a new arena

The Nizhny Novgorod team is set to meet "Ak Bars" on September 14. According to the director, the preparation for the opening of the new arena is currently the club's main priority. "As of today, all the club's efforts are focused on ensuring that the opening match takes place on September 14. For us, there is no second scenario at this point," emphasized Zabuga. He noted that the preparation for the start at the new venue includes several areas—construction, bureaucratic, and sports. The club is in constant interaction with the Continental Hockey League. Moving to the new arena, according to Zabuga, will allow the club to raise its operational standards. The sports block will feature its own cafeteria and kitchen for the first team. Additionally, the club will acquire new equipment and opportunities for the marketing and commercial departments. A fan shop and a museum are planned to be opened at the arena. Furthermore, two training rinks will operate under one roof, which can also be used by the "Torpedo" hockey school. Zabuga emphasized that the transition to the new facility is a complex process; however, the club hopes it will provide opportunities to develop the sports component. "We want to improve the club's sports achievements," stated the director. It is worth noting that construction of the arena for 12,000 spectators began in 2022. Last year, the arena received an official address, and in May 2026, it was named after the revived automotive brand. In August of this year, the facility was put into operation, and its opening is planned for the near future. Two weeks ago, the construction fence around the building was removed. The first hockey event at the new arena is set to be a test match (6+) featuring "Chaika," scheduled for September 7.
