Nizhny Novgorod residents can participate in the photo project "Smile of Russia" until September 20.

      Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region can join the nationwide photo project "Smile of Russia. Smile of Unity." The application period will last until September 20.

      To participate, it is necessary to upload a smiling portrait to the project website. Participants are then invited to mark on an interactive city map the places related to their family history and create a personal "roots map."

      All submitted materials will be included in a common digital archive dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

      The project aims to showcase the country through the stories of its residents, family ties, cultural traditions, and the characteristics of different regions.

      Based on the results, the organizers will select the most active participants. The winners will go to Moscow for a professional photo shoot and become the heroes of an information campaign for the Day of National Unity.

      A photo exhibition will also be prepared based on the collected materials. Its opening is scheduled for November 4, 2026.

      Anna Polezhaeva, head of the House of Peoples of Russia, noted that the initiative combines modern technology, a scientific approach, and personal stories of people. According to her, participation in the project provides an opportunity to learn more about one's family history and trace the connection between generations and regions.

      The project is implemented by the House of Peoples of Russia with the support of the Federal Nationalities Agency and the scientific community.
