Can cancer be detected independently? This will be discussed with Nizhny Novgorod residents at the IPF RAS lecture.

      On August 5, 2026, at 12:15, the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences launches a popular science lecture series "Iuvenes" in Nizhny Novgorod. The first meeting (16+) will take place on August 7 at the art space "NAIS" and will be dedicated to oncological diseases. Young scientists will speak before the guests. Victoria Monicheva, a laboratory assistant at the Research Institute of Experimental Oncology and Biomedical Technologies, will discuss whether cancer can be recognized by symptoms, when to see a doctor, and why searching for diagnoses on the internet does not always help. Junior researcher at the Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Evgeny Blinov, will explain how ionizing radiation affects the body, which types truly increase the risk of developing oncological diseases, and which beliefs about radiation remain myths.
