      On July 23, a meeting of the commission for the prevention and liquidation of emergency situations and ensuring fire safety in the Nizhny Novgorod region was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, chaired by the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Sergey Polovnikov. The key issue on the agenda was the discussion of the results of the activities of all links of the territorial subsystem of the RSChS in the region for the first half of the current year. The main report was delivered by Valery Sinkov, head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to him, the activities of the regional subsystem of the RSChS were recognized as satisfactory. In the first half of 2026, it was possible to prevent large-scale man-made accidents and major natural disasters in the territory of the region. "We are recording a stable positive dynamics in the region. The main achievement to date is a significant reduction in the total number of man-made fires, as well as a sharp decrease in fires of dry herbaceous vegetation. Joint preventive work with the population and authorities is yielding results: we are managing to keep the situation under control and prevent large-scale landscape fires," noted Valery Sinkov. Let us remind you that preserving forests from fires is one of the most important areas of the national project "Ecological Well-being." The main goal of the national project is to preserve and increase the forest resources of the country to create a comfortable and safe environment, as well as to support the economic potential of the forest complex. A separate block of the meeting was dedicated to ensuring fire safety in educational institutions in the run-up to the new school year. Deputy Minister of Education Maria Chernikova, together with the acting Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Zaitsev, reported on the progress of inspections of schools and kindergartens.

      As part of the meeting, the results of the joint work of all services and links of this system for the first half of the year were summarized, and tasks for the second half of 2026 were set.
