The site for recreating the Triumphal Arch has begun preparations in Nizhny Novgorod.

As reported by NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" in the Department of Construction and Major Repairs, the contractor has begun preparatory work. In particular, the relocation of engineering networks from the future construction zone is underway. The project will be implemented in several stages: first, design and survey work will be conducted, then the arch itself will be restored, and the adjacent territory will be improved. Within the framework of the municipal contract, engineering and geological surveys have already been completed. Specialists have also developed and agreed upon the landscaping concept, the external appearance of the future pavilion, facades, planning solutions, the location of the arch, and prepared the technical part of the project and estimate documentation. It is worth noting that the remnants of the historical Triumphal Arch, which was built according to the project of architect Shekhtel for the arrival of Emperor Nicholas II in 1896, were discovered in 2024 during earthworks on Sovetskaya Street. After this find, a decision was made to restore the lost object. The competition for the restoration of the monument was announced twice. The first procedure did not take place as no applications were received. In the summer of 2025, the Municipal State Institution "GlavUKS of Nizhny Novgorod" signed a municipal contract with JSC "TSNRU". The contractor is tasked not only with restoring the Triumphal Arch but also with creating an exhibition space in the area of houses No. 20 and No. 22 on Sovetskaya Street in the Kanavinsky district. The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2026. A budget of 314.8 million rubles has been allocated for all work.
