More than 37 thousand people attended the "Masters of the Golden Ring" festival in Gorodets.

      On July 20, 2026, at 17:25 Culture and Leisure More than 37,000 Nizhny Novgorod residents and guests of the region participated in the folk arts and crafts festival "Masters of the Golden Ring" in Gorodets. As reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the event took place last weekend with the support of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality."

      The festival became the central point of the celebration of City Day and the 90th anniversary of the "Gorodets Painting" factory, uniting masters of folk arts and crafts from the cities of the "Golden Ring," as well as from the Nizhny Novgorod Region and neighboring cities.

      "The status of a 'Golden Ring' city is a high assessment of how Gorodets carefully preserves and enhances its heritage. Gorodets is the soul of Russian crafts, and I am glad that this gem of Nizhny Novgorod land now shines on the main tourist route of Russia," noted the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, member of the United Russia party faction, Yevgeny Lyulin.

      The opening ceremony of the festival was also attended by State Duma Deputy Artem Kavinov, Minister of Tourism and Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergey Yakovlev, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Vladimir Bespalov and Alexander Timofeev, and the head of the local government of the Gorodets District Alexander Mudrov. They awarded representatives of the folk arts and crafts industry of the region and outstanding residents of the Gorodets District.

      "Gorodets has always been a center of folk culture. But this weekend it became a true 'center' - a city where guests from all over the country gathered to see how our traditions live and develop. Thank you, Gorodets, for these bright days, for your hospitality, and for the opportunity to once again feel how rich the cultural code of our Nizhny Novgorod land is," said State Duma Deputy Artem Kavinov.

      The two-day program included more than 50 events: performances by creative groups, a fair of folk arts and crafts, gastronomic zones, and workshops for the whole family.

      "Two days of a rich festival program, more than 37,000 guests, and 20 enterprises of folk arts and crafts. Behind these numbers are the labor, talent, and golden hands of the masters who generously shared the secrets of their craft. I am sure that the 'Masters of the Golden Ring' festival will become a good tradition and a new business card for the city," said Minister of Tourism and Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergey Yakovlev.

      The regional department reminded that in 2026, the route of the "Golden Ring" included 10 cities and villages of the Nizhny Novgorod Region: Arzamas, Bogorodsk, Vyksa, Bolshoye Boldino, Gorodets, Diveyevo, Purekh, Nizhny Novgorod, Pavlovo, and Chkalovsk. Next year, the famous route will celebrate its 60th anniversary.

      "The Day of Gorodets will be remembered by all residents, guests, and participants of the 'Masters of the Golden Ring' festival for its warmth and true Russian spirit. Our city gathered people representing folk crafts and professions from more than 25 regions of the country.
