The attack by a Nizhny Novgorod woman with a knife on a police officer ended with a criminal case.

      On July 10, 2026, at 16:38, Incidents: A 42-year-old woman has been taken into custody in Nizhny Novgorod, accused of attempting to take the life of a police officer. After the attack, she was apprehended on the scene, reported the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region. According to the investigation, on July 9, a police officer arrived at a house on Starykh Proizvoditelnikov Street to take the woman to the police station. She was a witness in a criminal case regarding intentional infliction of minor bodily harm. During the transport, the woman, as investigators believe, unexpectedly stabbed the police officer in the neck with a knife and fled. Soon, criminal investigation officers along with investigators found and detained her.

      The injured police officer was taken to the hospital. He is currently receiving necessary medical assistance. Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated under the article "Attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer." During the examination of the crime scene, investigators seized several items that may be significant for the investigation, including the alleged weapon used in the crime. On July 10, the Avtozavodsky District Court chose a measure of restraint for the woman in the form of detention. She will remain in custody at least until September 8, 2026. The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are clarifying all circumstances of the incident and continue to gather evidence.
