The Nizhny Novgorod electric transport manufacturer plans to launch a new production facility in the SEZ "Kulibin."

      The Belarusian-Russian joint venture LLC SP "Nizhekotrans" plans to launch a high-tech electric transport production facility in the special economic zone "Kulibin" in Dzerzhinsk. Recall that the enterprise was established at the end of 2022. During the third quarter of this year, the plant plans to fully complete the contract for the renewal of rolling stock for the needs of Nizhny Novgorod: to produce 170 trams, including 26 three-section trams and 62 electric buses. The enterprise has also fulfilled an order for the production of tram cars for Krasnodar.

      In the territory of the SEZ "Kulibin," the creation of a high-tech and robotic production facility is planned, which will allow for the expansion of the range of promising products. Currently, the development of a promising line of hybrid and electric passenger transport is underway. LLC SP "Nizhekotrans" is a subsidiary of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation.

      "In connection with the reduction in the volume of orders for the existing product line, a decision was made to restart the enterprise 'Nizhekotrans.' The acquisition of rented premises by the factory in Vorsma and its reconstruction, considering financial costs and the presence of a preferential territory in the region of the SEZ 'Kulibin,' has been deemed financially impractical. Unfortunately, during the establishment of the new production, there will be an optimization of the staff size of the enterprise. To assist employees affected by this measure, we are working with government authorities to explore options for their employment at other enterprises in the region," said Igor Ishchenko, General Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Development Corporation.

      The situation is under the control of the Ministry of Demography and Human Capital Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      "The restructuring of the enterprise and the associated optimization is an economically justified but temporary stage of production reformatting. Every employee affected by the optimization will receive personal support. The production experience of these specialists is in high demand. Lists of alternative job openings at related enterprises in the region have been formed at the Nizhny Novgorod Employment Center 'Work of Russia.' If there is a need to change specialization, the employment center will help select a professional retraining program within the framework of the national project 'Personnel,'" added Igor Pantyukhin, Minister of Demography and Human Capital Development.
