At the previous hearing, the defendants participated in the process via video link, as they had not yet been transferred from Moscow at that time. According to the lawyers, Ilya is already in Nizhny Novgorod, while Mikhail has not yet been transferred. The judge asked the parties for their opinion on the possibility of considering the case in the absence of the defendants. Both the defense and the prosecution deemed it inappropriate, so the hearing was postponed. Recall that Ilya Shtokman was detained in September 2025 in Sochi. According to the investigation, the former official received a bribe of 55 million rubles from the head of a construction company. Law enforcement agencies believe that the money was given for general protection, the conclusion of contracts with a sole contractor, and loyal oversight during the implementation of construction projects. The investigation believes that the funds may have been transferred to the accounts of a company headed by the brother of the former vice-mayor, Mikhail Shtokman, who is the general director of the "Vector" plant. He was detained in December 2025. He is charged with mediating in bribery on a particularly large scale. According to law enforcement, the transfers were made in parts through former city council deputy Karim Ibragimov. He later admitted guilt and was transferred to witness status in the case. It was also reported that there are intentions to confiscate the profits of the family business and assets that, according to the investigation, were acquired with funds from the bribe. Their total value is estimated at 328 million rubles. In June, the court extended the brothers' detention and kept them in pre-trial detention until December 8, 2026.
