Reservists of "BARS-NN" are mastering new weapons before combat duty.

      June 18, 2026 15:47 Society A new group of mobilization reserve reservists "BARS-NN" has begun preparations for combat duty at the training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region. During the training sessions, the fighters are mastering modern weaponry, including the portable air defense missile system (MANPADS). The training of the reservists was attended by Vladimir Tuzhilin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. He communicated with the unit participants and assessed how the training is progressing. According to Tuzhilin, the training program for "BARS-NN" is expanding.

      "The training program is extensive, including practical exercises with MANPADS—a system that is very effective in air defense. Reservists who have completed training on the new weaponry are already using it in combat positions. There is progress in repelling attacks. Overall, the guys are gaining experience. We are developing both qualitatively and quantitatively," noted the deputy chairman of the government.

      The senior instructor for air defense training with the callsign "Akord" stated that the reservists are studying modern technologies using special simulators. At the same time, safety protocols remain the foundation of the training. He noted that the fighters quickly grasp the principles of the new weaponry, actively ask questions, and show good results during the sessions.

      The reservists themselves described the training at the training ground as intensive and as close to real conditions as possible. According to one participant with the callsign "Tankist," the fighters are trained not only in tactics but also in providing medical assistance. The military commissariat reminded that service in "BARS-NN" takes place exclusively within the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region and does not involve deployment to the special military operation zone. Enrollment is voluntary: contracts are concluded through the military commissariats of municipalities. The service format allows for it to be combined with primary employment. During the drills, reservists retain their jobs and salaries, and provisions are made for payments, equipment, meals, medical assistance, and insurance. Additionally, the region has implemented extra support measures for reservists and their families, including benefits for children and priority medical care.
