The company "Bulat" together with the operator T2 has launched VoLTE voice communication on domestic base stations.
June 9, 2026 13:40 Society The company "Bulat," a Russian manufacturer of telecommunications and IT equipment (GC "Rostelecom"), together with the mobile operator T2, has successfully launched VoLTE (voice over LTE) voice communication on its base stations. At the first stage, VoLTE technology operates on three base stations in the Spassky and Krasnooktyabrsky districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region, which are part of the infrastructure perimeter of UCN 2.0, where T2 acts as the technical partner of "Rostelecom." It is planned to scale the technology to all "Bulat" base stations by autumn 2026. The implementation of VoLTE is the result of the joint work of the "Bulat" and T2 teams, which began with laboratory tests and took 10 months before the launch on the network. Currently, specialists from the companies are conducting testing and debugging processes to ensure the stable operation of the technology. In the next three months, it is planned to expand the VoLTE functionality to all "Bulat" base stations launched in 2024 and 2025. This will provide high-quality voice connections on the 4G network for "Bulat" base stations across the country. Alexander Loginov, Vice President of PJSC "Rostelecom," General Director of LLC "Bulat": "The launch of VoLTE on 'Bulat' equipment on the T2 network confirms the high technological maturity of our domestic development. We are proud that the Russian solution supports modern communication standards and is already improving service quality. The UCN 2.0 project demonstrates the readiness of 'Rostelecom,' T2, and 'Bulat' for complex tasks of state importance. Ahead of us lies significant work to improve technologies for the digital independence of the country." Alexey Dmitriev, Deputy General Director for Technical Infrastructure at T2: "All operators were interested in the launch of VoLTE on 'Bulat' base stations. 'Bulat' base stations operate in the UCN 2.0 infrastructure segment and are in network sharing with all market participants. Since the VoLTE functionality is among the key ones for providing subscribers with quality voice service, it was important for T2 to work on the project as a priority task."
