      Recall that the question of dividing the Nizhny Novgorod district was raised in the fall of 2024, and in early January 2025, the Public Chamber of Nizhny Novgorod began discussing the initiative. At that time, Mayor Yuri Shalabaev noted that this is not about redistributing resources in favor of the center at the expense of other territories. In his opinion, each part of the district requires an individual approach to management, and an open format will allow for assessing the advantages and possible risks. It is assumed that in the case of division, the central part will focus on preserving cultural heritage sites and developing the road network, considering the high transport load, while residential areas will focus on maintaining engineering communications and social infrastructure. In April of last year, Yuri Shalabaev stated that a decision on the possible division would be made based on the results of a comprehensive study and taking into account the opinions of residents.
