In "MotoRussia," they explained why Motorcycle Day has lost its significance.
On June 9, 2026, at 12:28 PM, Society The World Motorcycle Day, celebrated this year on June 9, has lost its significance for many bikers, claims the head of the "MotoRussia" association, Andrey Ivanov. According to him, many holidays, large festivals, and commemorative dates have emerged in the motorcycle community that play a much greater role in the lives of motorcycle enthusiasts.
For example, last weekend, a large-scale festival called "Movement" took place in Yekaterinburg, attracting tens of thousands of participants from all over Russia. Many motorcyclists traveled hundreds and thousands of kilometers to reach the venue.
In an interview with 360.ru, Ivanov noted that interest in motorcycles in Russia is growing, which is reflected in the increasing number of events. In the Moscow region, the popular event remains "MotoThursday" in Vidnoye, where hundreds of motorcyclists gather every week for training, socializing, and watching films in a motorcycle cinema.
Among the largest festivals in the Moscow region, Ivanov highlights Biker Brothers, which gathers participants from across the country. He also mentions road racing competitions at the Moscow Raceway, where both Russian and foreign athletes compete.
Special attention is given to off-road disciplines—motocross and enduro. The accessibility of the equipment makes these sports increasingly popular, and competitions in them are growing the fastest. Motorcycles costing around 150,000 rubles are affordable for many, contributing to the popularity of these disciplines.
Speaking about the largest Russian festivals, Ivanov highlights the "Baltic Rally" in Vyborg, "Motobukhta" in Teriberka, and the "Movement" festival in Yekaterinburg. The "Baltic Rally" turns the entire city into a motorcycle festival, featuring concerts, sports competitions, and show programs. "Motobukhta," held beyond the Arctic Circle, includes multi-day trips across the Kola Peninsula and hard-to-reach areas of the North.
Despite the many festivals, the main event for bikers remains the Day of Remembrance for Fallen Motorcyclists, celebrated on September 18. On this day, motorcyclists participate in memorial rides and visit the Grove of Memory in Mytishchi, where the largest memorial to fallen motorcyclists in the world is located.
Another important tradition is the Day of the Female Motorcyclist, when hundreds of girls on motorcycles participate in rides and events. Russian bikers also join the international campaign Distinguished Gentleman Ride every year, where they wear classic suits and ride vintage motorcycles, raising funds for charitable projects.
According to Ivanov, such events reflect the spirit of the modern motorcycle community—it's a union of people, a love for travel, and a desire to help others.
