Bystrykin requested a report on the death of a teenager in the Nizhny Novgorod eco-park.

      June 9, 2026 14:02 Incidents The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, demanded a report on the results of the investigation into the death of a 14-year-old boy in the Dalnekonstantinovsky district.

      The tragedy occurred in the summer of 2025 at the eco-park "Yantar" (the village of Zubanikha). On the afternoon of July 26, a group of underage boys rented a catamaran. They were not provided with life jackets, and no one was monitoring them from the shore. At some point, panic broke out on the shore— the children admitted that their friend had slid down a slide on the catamaran and was missing.

      According to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod," eyewitnesses rushed to search for the minor. After some time, the police and an ambulance arrived. Divers began the search in the evening. The body of the deceased was found in the pond only after a day.

      On the air of a regional television channel, the teenager's mother stated that she disagreed with the investigation's findings. She insists that there was a lack of safety control on the beach.

      After the child's death, a criminal case was initiated by the Investigative Committee for providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in a person's death (paragraph "v" part 2 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The administrator of the eco-park is the accused in the case. The case is being heard in court.

      It was previously reported that the court ordered the closure of the eco-park in Zubanikha following a prosecutor's inspection. It was established that the illegal beach was set up on agricultural land. Two plots designated for fishing were used for commercial recreation (entry to the beach costs 600 rubles. — Ed. note).
