The woman became a victim of a classic telephone fraud scheme. Over three days, the criminals contacted the victim, posing as employees of the Central Bank and law enforcement agencies. The scammers convinced the pensioner that her savings were being attempted to be stolen. The woman transferred 900,000 rubles to supposedly safe accounts specified by the criminals. A criminal case has been initiated based on the signs of a crime under part 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). The search for individuals involved in the theft is underway. The owners of the accounts to which the funds were transferred are being identified.
