On May 2, 2026, at 07:27, Incidents: A student from the eighth grade died in the city of Semyonov, Nizhny Novgorod region. According to preliminary information, the tragedy occurred against the backdrop of anxiety over an upcoming test.
As reported by the girl's parents in an interview with the program "By the Way..." (16+), the schoolgirl was afraid of failing the exam and being held back a year. She was particularly worried about the VPR (state final assessment) in English. A few days before the incident, she wrote to her parents expressing her fears of failing the final assessment.
The mother of the deceased claims that the child was not scolded at home and that they tried to calm her down. However, at school, according to her, there may have been warnings about the possibility of being held back a year.
Maria Zharkova, the deputy director for educational work, reported that an investigation is underway regarding the incident. According to her, at this time, there have been no claims against the teachers from the investigative authorities, and previously the girl was said to have had a calm attitude towards her grades.
