The village of Svobodny in the Voznesensky district is planned to be turned into a village.

      On April 14, 2026, at 09:19, Society The village of Svobodny in the Sarminsky rural council of the Voznesensky district has been proposed to be designated as a village. The corresponding bill has been submitted to the regional legislative assembly.

      As noted in the explanatory note, there are historically two villages named Svobodny in the Naryshkinsky and Sarminsky rural councils. In 2022, all populated areas of the Voznesensky district were merged into a municipal district, resulting in the inclusion of homonymous populated areas. This created difficulties when working with the Federal Information Address System. According to current regulations, an address must be unique — there cannot be two populated areas with the same name and type within one municipal formation.

      To eliminate duplication, it is proposed to change the type of one of the populated areas — the village of Svobodny in the Sarminsky rural council. It will become a village.

      The initiative was put forward by the Council of Deputies of the Voznesensky district, taking into account the opinion of the administration. A survey was conducted in the village: both registered residents supported the change of status.

      It is noted that the boundaries of the populated area will remain the same. Residents and property owners will not need to change their documents. Social support measures for residents of rural areas will also remain in place.

      Earlier, six populated areas in the Vetluzhsky and Voskresensky districts changed their status from village to selo. It was also reported that three populated areas want to be merged into one selo in the Arzamas district.
