Deputies were informed about the work of the "Switzerland" park.
On April 14, 2026, a meeting of the permanent commission on ecology was held in the City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod, chaired by Irina Molkova. This was reported by the press service of the City Duma. The deputies were presented with a report on the work of the MAUK "Park Switzerland." The director of the institution, Oleg Shuvalov, reported that the total area of the landscaped park is 52 hectares, which includes 18 km of improved paths, 14 children's playgrounds, and 11 sports grounds, two dog walking areas, seven public pavilions, and two light and music fountains.
The park features 1,740 small architectural forms, and its fence, which is 3.2 km long, is a cultural heritage site of regional significance. During the reconstruction and five years of maintenance, about 100,000 various types of greenery were planted, including more than 33,000 trees and shrubs. In 2025, sanitary treatment was carried out on 74 plantings, and about 1,500 new trees, shrubs, and perennial flowers were planted. The park was visited by over 3.5 million people, and the ice rink in the season attracted more than 47,000 people.
"Park 'Switzerland' has set a very high standard of comfort for guests; it is convenient and interesting for people here. The well-maintained area pleases the eye and provides locations for creativity, communication, walks, and sports activities. It is wonderful that there is such a place in the city and a team that cares for the largest and oldest city park," noted the chairman of the City Duma, Evgeny Chintsov.
It is noted that in the "Ecotorium" space, 263 events were held over the year with the participation of 4,800 people, and the educational programs "Young Entomologist" and "Eco Media School" reached more than 2,500 park visitors.
Irina Molkova emphasized that after the reconstruction, the park became one of the central venues for city events focused on ecology. She added that the team creates thematic activities year-round that are interesting to visitors of all ages. Photo: City Duma
