Law enforcement detained the director of the Arzamas Medical College: what is known

      On April 9, 2026, 18:40 Incidents A criminal case has been initiated against the director of a medical college in Arzamas. She is suspected of embezzling and misappropriating budget funds on a particularly large scale – under part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. As reported by the regional Investigative Committee, the investigation is being conducted by the first department for the investigation of particularly important cases. According to the investigation, the woman fictitiously appointed her acquaintance to the position of teacher. However, she did not actually work and did not perform any duties. Despite this, she was paid a salary. Over two years, the total amount of payments exceeded 1 million rubles. These funds, investigators believe, were embezzled by the director and disposed of at her discretion.

      The violations were identified by the Investigative Committee staff in collaboration with operatives from the FSB of the Nizhny Novgorod region. In the near future, a preventive measure is planned to be chosen for the suspect. Investigators are currently continuing their work – establishing all the circumstances of the incident, as well as collecting and securing evidence in the case. Additionally, according to the regional FSB, the damage caused by the director exceeded 2 million rubles.
