      March 29, 2026 13:26 Sport The captain of the Nizhny Novgorod mini-football club "Torpedo," Ivan Obzhorin, has been awarded the title of best player of the month in Nizhny Novgorod for February. The solemn ceremony for the presentation of the Cup took place on March 28, before the start of the second Super League match against "Crystal" from St. Petersburg.

      Let us remind you that this award is given to athletes for their contribution to the development of sports and the enhancement of Nizhny Novgorod's prestige at the federal level. It was established by the city administration and the Center for Management and Development of Sports in the region.

      The transitional cup was presented to Ivan Obzhorin by the director of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Nizhny Novgorod, Anton Yermakov.

      In the past month, the Nizhny Novgorod football player played four matches, scoring five goals and providing two assists. These achievements helped his team secure fourth place in the league table.

      Let us remind you that the tradition of honoring outstanding athletes was established in September 2025 at the initiative of Mayor Yuri Shalabaev. The first award was given to Maria Samoilova from "Normanochka," in October the title of best player was awarded to the goalkeeper of HC "Torpedo," Denis Kostin, and in November, the best was recognized as the blocker of VC "Gorky," Mikhail Shcherbakov.

      The best athlete of December was the goalkeeper of the hockey club "Start," Yuri Ivanchikov, and based on the results of January, the transitional cup was awarded to the forward of HC "Torpedo," Yegor Vinogradov.
